Step 1: Unbox Your Trezor

Before connecting anything, ensure that:

  • The packaging is sealed and tamper-proof.
  • You have all items: the Trezor hardware wallet (Model One or Model T), USB cable, recovery seed cards, and user manual.

Never use a Trezor that appears opened or altered. Security begins with trust in your device.

Step 2: Visit Trezor.io/Start

Go to trezor.io/start on your computer or mobile browser. This is the official setup hub for Trezor devices.

You’ll be prompted to:

  1. Choose your Trezor model (Trezor Model One or Model T).
  2. Download Trezor Suite — our secure desktop app for managing your crypto.
💡 Pro Tip: Always download Trezor Suite directly from trezor.io to avoid counterfeit software.

Step 3: Install Trezor Suite

Download and install Trezor Suite for Windows, macOS, or Linux. Once installed, launch the app and connect your Trezor device using the USB cable provided.

Trezor Suite will recognize your device and guide you through the initial setup.

Step 4: Initialize Your Device

You’ll be asked to either:

  • Create a new wallet (recommended for new users), or
  • Recover a wallet using an existing recovery seed.

To create a new wallet:

  1. Confirm the action on your device screen.
  2. Trezor will generate a recovery seed — a series of 12, 18, or 24 words.
🛑 Important: Write down your recovery seed offline on the card provided. Store it in a safe, private location. This is your only backup. Never share or store it online.

Once you've confirmed your recovery seed, your wallet is ready.

Step 5: Add and Manage Crypto Assets

Inside Trezor Suite, you can:

  • Add Bitcoin, Ethereum, and over 1,000 supported coins and tokens
  • Send and receive crypto
  • Track your portfolio performance
  • Use advanced features like labeling and Tor integration for privacy

To receive crypto:

  1. Click “Receive” and choose your desired coin.
  2. Copy your receiving address or scan the QR code.
  3. Share your address securely with the sender.

To send crypto:

  1. Click “Send.”
  2. Enter the recipient’s address, amount, and transaction fee.
  3. Confirm the transaction both on Trezor Suite and your device screen.
